I will see what I can dig up on Remington production - Rolling Block military rifles (and presumably bayonets) in various calibres were supplied to quite a number of countries in the late 19th and early 20th Century - most (I think!) had a shorter bladed bayonet but I wonder if one of the other contracts (perhaps to Latin America?) had longer bladed versions too. Looking at the quillon on mine there is no obvious evidence of shaping/bending (ie all the lines are regular and there are no obvious flats which you sometimes see with shaping) but at the same time as you say obvious differences in blade too. I always new there 2 different maker name 'stampings', but I didn't realise there were other manufacturing differences until now. Also check the different blade 'runout' near the ricasso and fuller end shaping, which suggests different manufacturing plant or process.
